Since the start of the 2013 year, I began featuring a piece of literature daily and then featuring it in an article at the end of the month. This became known as my Lit. Daily Pick project, and it's been going very successful. While most of my time and dedication is given to the literature community here on the site, I always am in love with the beautiful visual works that artists produce. I've collected beautiful folders of themes over the years and decided that on top of my monthly and daily features for literature, I would feature a piece of visual art in the same manner. Each month, I decided that I would choose a different theme and feature one piece per day that fit that theme. Then, at the end of the month, I would feature them all in an article where they could be viewed side by side. This has become known as my: Monthly Theme Feature Project.
My theme for August 2013 was Birds.
I found so many beautiful pieces that fit the theme, ranging from owls to robins and even some birds that perhaps have never been seen or heard of. These are only 31 pieces of birds on the site, and there were many more that I would have loved to feature alongside of them.
* I do take suggestions for deviations to feature, as well! If you know of a deviation or artist that you love and want to share that has a piece that fits the monthly theme, feel free to send me a note entitled "Monthly Theme Suggestion". I'd be happy to consider it. Please Note: A deviant may only be featured once a month to make it fair and give others a chance to be featured.
And now, here is my collection of artwork from this month in order of their date of feature. Be sure to check them out:

Congratulations again to all these wonderful artists of various mediums! Your work is gorgeous and a wonderful contribution to the community.
This month's theme is Tea. If you have any suggestions for pieces of artwork involving tea or of tea, please feel free to send me a note and share.
Congrats again, everyone!

Birthday Updates and More
A week overdue (due to my crazy busy schedule this week), but thank you all for the birthday wishes last Friday! They were a nice surprise to sign on to in the morning (both here and Facebook). I had a really nice birthday with my family and some friends. My little brother brought me Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast, then two of my friends from my writing group took me out for some lemonade at this really great, all-natural cafe that opened up in town, and for dinner my family took me out for a lobster dinner! And, of course, we came back to the house after that for cake and ice cream, which my other friend joined me for. I got some checks from f
Weekend Updates/Results!
Comic Book Weekend in Albany was absolutely wonderful! I had a great time hanging out with my family and friends and talking to fans (both of my grandpa's work and people who remembered me from past shows). It was definitely a nice, needed break!
Saturday, we went to Bruno Stadium to see the Tri-City Valley Cats play against the Connecticut Tigers. The Valley Cats didn't have a good game, but everyone had a lot of fun there! I helped my grandpa set up his table for the game with some of his prints and baseball comics that he worked on to give away to eager fans, and the baseball cards of him that were made up last year when he was the guest
Albany Comic Con + Small Updates
Just dropping in with some quick updates! I've been busy as anything lately (as my last journal probably showed) and been enjoying most of my free time offline. I have some news for those who are in New York state (particularly the capital region) for this weekend, followed by some other small things I thought I would mention for the time being.
This Sunday (June 15th) I'm going to be at the Albany Comic Con. with the co-president of my writer's group, selling advanced copies of our non-profit anthology Cat Tails. We'll also have a few copies of books that others in the group have either written or worked on (my co-president is bringing his
My May Updates
It's literally been forever since my last journal and I apologise greatly for it. The truth of the matter is that I haven't been on dA in any real depth in a while since life has gotten in the way. I've been crazy busy with work at the magazine publisher since summer is our main printing season with lots of custom publications on top of our usual monthly ones, etc. Aside from that, life in general has been very busy lately-- which I won't get into detail about everything, but--! I'm still alive, to put it simply, just not overly active here.
On top of the publications I've been working on at work, this coming week, my weekly writing group's
